ABOUT
Matthew Harvey is a British musical theatre composer & performer.
Performances include Les Miserables, Jesus Christ Superstar, Violet and Murder Ballad.
Matthew began writing musical theatre during the pandemic, working closely with the London Musical Theatre Orchestra to record a concept album of Only A Moment, a musical based on a popular rom-com. From this, Matthew was approached by The Barn Theatre to become an Associate Artist and write Now Or Never, a song cycle inspired by the theatre industry’s resilience during lockdown.
Now Or Never was filmed & streamed completely live in a single continuous take, thanks to the ingenuity of Matthew’s friend and collaborator director Ryan Carter.
The Stage wrote: “the songs that comprise it are a wonderful calling card for Harvey. He has the knack for telling a story succinctly and deftly within a song and setting it to memorable melodies.”
The Road from Now Or Never was a finalist in the 2021 Stiles & Drewe Best New Song Prize which took place at the historic Hackney Empire.
Since then, Matthew has been award a MGC Futures Bursary to work on a new, original musical score and been awarded funding from Help Musicians to record an original musical theatre album.

MGC FUTURES BURSARY
